Espen Strøm

Espen co-founded HAVN Capital, heads up the firm’s Norwegian operations, and sits on the Investment Committee. He leads origination for HAVN and brings two decades of investing in and building energy companies across the US, Europe and the Nordics.
Before HAVN, Espen spent 17 years at EV Private Equity, where he backed and built energy businesses through multiple cycles, having begun his career at ExxonMobil in financial planning and operations.
At HAVN, Espen led the Fund I investment in Noova Energy Systems — a Norwegian tech-enabled energy optimisation platform for SMEs — through to its recent exit to Trill Impact, a deal that reflects the firm’s energy-transition focus.
Developing the team is central to how Espen sees the firm’s long-term edge, and he takes a hands-on role mentoring HAVN’s next generation of investment professionals.
Espen holds an MSc in Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), with an exchange at the University of Melbourne, and is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA).
Outside work, Espen enjoys travelling, follows football closely, and lives an active life with a focus on staying in shape.
